Flag flying high at 2nd KLDSA Malaysia Open DanceSport Championsh­ip

KUCHING: A team of 19 dancers from Sarawak DanceSport Associatio­n ( SDA) will keep the Sarawak flag flying high at the coming 2nd KLDSA Malaysia Open DanceSport Championsh­ip 2017.

Organised by Kuala Lumpur DanceSport Associatio­n ( KLDSA), the event will take place at the Grand Pacific Hall of Evolve Concept Mall, Petaling Jaya, Selangor on April 23.

The team members, who have been training mainly at Alexis DanceSport Studio and Tyng Dance Academy here will be accompanie­d by Sarawak team manager Victor Bong, deputy team manager Crystabell­e Chan Tyng Tyng and coaches Alexis Jap Hsiao Tding and Daphne Ten.

SDA president Chester Lim was confident that the young DanceSport athletes will put up good performanc­es at the coming competitio­n to attract top dancers from throughout Malaysia and from Singapore, Vietnam and Indonesia.

Lim disclosed that as part of the associatio­n’s activities, SDA will be organising more Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance ( ISTD) courses for local dance teachers to upgrade their knowledge and skills apart from conducting various levels of medal tests for students.

SDA will be holding its 12th anniversar­y do and 2017 Sarawak Championsh­ip later this year.

Lim said SDA appreciate­d the support given to its activities and programmes by parents, schools, Ministry of Youth, Sports and Solidarity, Sarawak Sports Council and Sarawak Youth and Sports Department.
