Chamber to promote badminton as its annual sport activity

KAPIT: Kapit Chinese Chamber of Commerce is committed to promote badminton competitio­ns as its annual sport activity, its president Dato Yong Hua Sying said.

The chamber allocates RM3,500 for the competitio­n’s expenses which is organised by its Youth Wing this year.

“The chamber welcomes any youth club to organise this event. This year the Youth Wing Kapit Foochow Associatio­n, next year it could be Youth Wing Kwang Tung Associatio­n or Chiang Chuan Associatio­n.

“The objective is to encourage youths from different clans or sport clubs to join in to promote team work and co- operation,” said Yong when he officiated at the ‘ Inter-Teams Badminton Competitio­ns 2017’ held at Bletih Stadium on Thursday.

He said it was important to be active in sports and games as a mean to enhance friendship as well as to keep fit and healthy.

At the function, Yong and Kapitan Yiap Yii Hoo who is the deputy chairman of Kapit Foochow Associatio­n served the shuttle to start the competitio­n.

Present were Pemanca Yong Thu Fook and other community leaders.

Six teams comprising of sixty players are competing in the weeklong competitio­n at Bletih Indoor Stadium from April 6 to 12.

The competing teams were Cahaya Mas, Bahagia, Hoon Hing, Bee Teck, All Care Pharmacy and Tian Fa.
