7 museum staff recognised for their excellent service
KUCHING: Seven Sarawak Museum Department staff were recognised for their excellent service in 2016 at the Excellent Service 2016 Awards night on Friday.
Its director Ipoi Datan said the annual awards was one of ways the department was showing its appreciation to staff who had done their best in providing excellent service in the past one year.
“The recipients are given incentives such as Excellent Service Certificate, souvenir, RM1,000 and an opportunity to enhance work performance such as courses and working trips,” he said in his speech.
The recipients for the Excellent Service 2016 Awards were curator Norraha Abdul Rahim, assistant curator Wong Siew Fui, administrative assistant Jamayah Bustaman, designer John Boniface, archives assistant Nurul Aida Adris and operations assistants Yahya Zakaria and Singa Agong.
Ipoi congratulated them, hoping they would become examples to their colleagues so that everyone would work towards achieving the organisational vision to be a global centre for Borneoan heritage by 2030 as well as the mission to reposition Sarawak Museum as a manifestation of Sarawak’s culture, heritage and tourism.
“With the awards too, we hope there is greater awareness on the importance for civil servants to be consistent in performing and delivering their tasks. An excellent work culture is necessary for quality service.
“We are also in the midst of planning to give special acknowledgement to staff who have been working for a certain period of time with the department. This will be in addition to the long service medal awarded by the government,” he said.
He also reminded the staff to always adhere to the six shared values of Sarawak Civil Service, namely integrity, kind and sharing, professionalism, sense of urgency and ownership, team spirit and result-oriented.
