Registration for six-day Trans-Borneo 4x4 expedition opens
MIRI: The 4x4 Northern Lawas Outlander will run an exploration and camping trip for interested four-wheel drive (4x4) offroad explorers from Sarawak, Sabah and Brunei.
Registration for the expedition, running from May 31 to June 5 this year, is now open with participating fee of RM880 per vehicle transporting one driver and one co-driver – each of whom will receive a T-shirt and a sticker for their vehicle upon successful registration.
An additional RM380 will be charged for additional passengers – this is inclusive of two more T-shirts. All participants must submit two copies of their passport-sized photos together with their registration forms, which must reach the organiser by this April 28.
For non-Malaysians, they must submit photocopies of their valid passports, identity card and other relevant documents to facilitate the processing for travelling.
The six-day, five-night itinerary of the trip is as the following:
• Day 1 – A briefing for all participants at the meeting point in Lawas Petronas petrol station at 8am before the flag-off for the Ba Kelalan leg at 9am. The camping site will be near Ba Kelalan;
• Day 2 – Convoy to commence journey to Long Bawan at 8 am, meet guests of honour, head of police, head of immigration and community leaders before proceeding to Long Layu’s camping site. Many activities in store for participants;
• Day 3 – Convoy will take off from Long Layu around 8am to Pa, meet its village headman Upan Jemput and his charges before continuing the journey all the way to Long Padi and stopping at Kampung Benuang camping site to rest for the evening;
• Day 4 – Activities like fishing and sight-seeing at Kampung Benuang, an opportunity for participants to enjoy nature’s beauty, and;
• Day 5 – Convoy to head to Bukit Garam from Kampung Benuang before returning to Long Bawan.
In the event of unforeseen circumstances, the convoy could expect to delay their return trip to Long Bawan a day later (June 6), before heading back to Ba Kelalan and Lawas.
“We wish to advise participants to follow all rules and regulations, including the requirements for each vehicle to prepare at least 100 litres of petrol or diesel for emergency, for the participants to properly dispose of their own rubbish, and for them to be responsible for their own safety at all times,” the organiser said.
Participants are also advised to bring their own sleeping bags and camping items, prepare their own meals as well as to equip themselves with automotive tools and spare parts like front and rear wheel bearings, long shaft coupling, as well as brake and engine oils.
