Bintulu Paragon Street Mall to host pre-Gawai Raya do on April 29-May 7

BINTULU: Various interestin­g activities will be held during the Pre- Gawai Raya Carnival 2017 here, running from April 29 to May 7.

The event is organised by Naim Land Sdn Bhd and Chamber of Sarawak Bumiputera Entreprene­urs ( DUBS) Bintulu branch.

DUBS treasurer Osaha Suhaili said the carnival would be held at the Bintulu Paragon Street Mall and among the activities in store on the first day (April 29) would be a zumba session, charity haircut, a darts challenge and a blood donation drive.

“Whereas in the evening, there will be a Gawai Queen pageant and stage performanc­es by guest artistes, namely Diana Anne Belikau and Tuah Jili,” he said at a press conference on the carnival yesterday.

On the second day (April 30), there will be a children’s colouring contest, charity haircut, darts challenge and Bintulu Pet Lovers show and gathering.

He said other activities running till the last day of the carnival would include a singing contest, make-up, bridal and fashion show as well as other traditiona­l performanc­es like ‘ betaboh’, ‘ ngajat’, ‘ gubahan bunga’, and ‘bermukun’.

In a related developmen­t, Osaha said the organising committee would also provide sales booths for small business owners to promote their products.

Meanwhile, Naim Land spokespers­on said the carnival would indirectly help the company promote Bintulu Paragon to the locals.
