Tar-sealing works on Jln Antaroh in Baleh may finish ahead of schedule — Pelagus rep

KAPIT: The tar- sealing works on Jalan Antaroh at Sungai Sut in Baleh near here may reach completion ahead of schedule.

Pelagus assemblyman Wilson Nyabong Ijang said the project was among those listed under his manifesto for the state election last year.

“I wanted to expedite the tarsealing works on the whole stretch of Jalan Antaroh, undertaken by JKR ( Public Works Department) in phases – it was under my manifesto, in which I wanted to see it complete before the end of my term as assemblyman.

“But now, I believe that the works could finish earlier than that,” he said in his opening remarks at the recent ‘ Youth Transformation – Youth, Sports and Solidarity Entrepreneurship Camp’ in Rumah William Ubu at Sungai Sut, which involved 150 participants from areas across his constituency.

Nyabong also expressed his appreciation for the hard work by all former and present ‘wakil rakyat’ (elected representatives) in developing the area.

“We can now realise the construction of the road from Rumah Juntan to Nanga Sungai Sut – one that’s announced by Deputy Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi earlier. The cost of the project is RM60 million.

“I am also fortunate that my constituency has high (road) connectivity compared with those in Baleh or Bukit Goram. The Sungai Sut polling district is about 80 per cent connected.

“Moreover, the logging and plantation companies could come in and help construct feeder roads that would link every longhouse on the right bank of the Rajang River, considering that these longhouse villagers are the ones taking part in the land development (for oil palm),” he said.

Later, Nyabong announced housing aid worth RM192,000 to Rumah Emah at Simpang Sungai Antaroh, and RM200,000 to Rumah Naga.

He also announced Minor Rural Project grants of RM5,000 for Rumah William Ubu’s village security and development committee (JKKK) , RM3,000 for its women’s bureau and an additional RM100,000 for repair works on the longhouse.
