Shannon Woodward of ‘Westworld’ joins ‘The Last of Us’ sequel
AWARD-winning postapocalyptic franchise ‘ The Last of Us’ has added Shannon Woodward, who plays Elsie Hughes in award-winning postcyberization drama ‘ Westword’, to its cast.
Shannon Woodward becomes the third actor associated with the highly anticipated sequel, after Ashely Johnson and Troy Baker were confirmed to return. Her character has not been named but Woodward announced her participation through Twitter. Baker voiced Joel, gruff and grief-wracked courier tasked with protecting Ellie (Johnson,) a young girl with a unique resistance to the deadly virus that has otherwise ravaged humankind. Woodward comes in from HBO’s hit series ‘ Westworld’, in which she plays a computer programmer working behind the scenes at a theme park populated by lifelike robots and patronised by thrillseeking humans. She co- starred with Minnie Driver and Eddie Izzard in FX’s two- season comedy drama ‘ The Riches’ and was a regular on Fox’s ‘Raising Hope’. Likewise, Ashley Johnson was better known for voicing characters on Disney’s ‘ Recess’ and Cartoon Network’s ‘ Ben 10’ series before expanding on ‘ The Last of Us’ with its prequel sidestory ‘ Left Behind’ plus ‘ Tales from the Borderlands’, ‘Minecraft: Story Mode’ and a ‘ Skylanders’ game. Troy Baker is already well established in video gaming with numerous roles including those in the ‘Call of Duty’, ‘Final Fantasy’, ‘Saints Row’ and ‘Lego Batman’ franchises, as well as working alongside Ashley Johnson in ‘ Tales from the Borderlands’. — Relaxnews
