Big do to mark completion of Kanowit, Katibas bridges

SELANGAU: A celebratio­n is being planned at the site of the Kanowit Bridge on May 26 to mark the completion of the Kanowit and Katibas bridge projects.

Musyati Sdn Bhd advisor John Lee Chin Seng said the event would be officiated at by the Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr James Jemut Masing.

“Kapit MP Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi and Kanowit MP Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang told us to team up with government agencies and department­s to make sure the event is held before the Gawai Dayak celebratio­n.

“There will be various activities to mark the occasion,” he told reporters when met after a meeting attended by Masing at the site office of the Pan Borneo Highway project here yesterday.

Musyati is the contractor for both bridge projects which are part of the 83-kilometre Kapit/ Song/Kanowit Road.

On a similar matter, Lee acknowledg­ed that the fund for the constructi­on of a road linking Nanga Ngungun in Kanowit district to Temalat in Song district has been approved by the Ministry of Finance ( MOF) in principle.

“Now it is only waiting for MOF to give instructio­n to the Ministry of Rural and Regional Developmen­t on the matter.

“The contractor is not yet identified,” he said.

He added the project would be divided into two packages.

The first package is to build a 9km road and the second package to construct another 5km road.
