Early Baram Regatta with many exciting activities
MARUDI: The organising committee of Baram Regatta Festival to run from Aug 25 to 27 has listed out many interesting activities with the highlight being the famed Baram Regatta.
The committee has in fact arranged for the activities to be held early – from April 23, with the Marudi Fun Run to start the ball rolling at the town square at 6.30am. About 400 runners have confirmed their participation.
The Fun Run is divided into six categories, among them, 6.5km Men/Women Open; 4km Men and Women Veteran; 4km Children ( boy and girl) above 12 years old; 1.3km Fun Run; and VIP. A Zumbathon session will be held prior to the run.
This was disclosed by organising chairman of the fun run Cr Edward Mendai after a meeting Wednesday.
He said prizes, including cash prizes, await the winners.
The patron of the run is Assistant Minister for Local Government Datu Dr Penguang Manggil.
Those still interested to participate in the fun run may call the organising committee at the district council office here during office hours.
The closing date for submission of entry forms is 4pm April 21.
Meanwhile, on the evening of Saturday (April 22) there will be a ‘Pasar Malam Tamu Marudi‘ at Market Persekutuan in Kampung Cina, the first ever such fair being held here. It will start at 4pm
More than 30 stalls will be set up for the event.
