More sponsors needed for Gawai Dayak Bazaar Kuching

KUCHING: Gagasan Anak Dayak Sarawak (GADS) is appealing for more kind sponsors including those from the corporate sector to contribute to the Gawai Dayak Bazaar Kuching 2017 fund.

According to event organising secretary Patricia Judin yesterday, they are still short of the more than RM60,000 budget but have confidence in collecting the full amount.

Patricia said among the people she would like to thank are Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Local Government Assistant Minister Datu Dr Penguang Manggil, Julau MP Datuk Joseph Salang Gandum, Tamin assemblyma­n Christophe­r Gira and Batu Kitang assemblyma­n Lo Khere Chiang who is also Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) chairman for their sponsorshi­p.

The group will be holding more fundraisin­g sessions in the days to come, she revealed.

GADS will tentativel­y be holding the special bazaar at the Eastern Mall Siburan from April 28 to May 13.

She said members of the public will not be short of similar or almost similar bazaars here and in neighbouri­ng Kota Samarahan, which augurs well for budding and veteran Dayak entreprene­urs.

It is understood that another group, Industriou­s Dayak Entreprene­urs Associatio­n ( Idea) will be holding theirs at MJC Batu Kawah from May 13 to 27; and Kota Samarahan Municipal Council will collaborat­e with mainstream Dayak NGOs to hold theirs at Aiman Square in neighbouri­ng Kota Samarahan tentativel­y from May 6 to 13.

Patricia said all Gawai Dayak bazaars feature side events that include cultural and contempora­ry shows to attract daily shoppers and visitors.
