Executive College’s open day a huge hit

KUCHING: Executive College ( EC) — previously known as Institut Eksekutif — received tremendous response to its Open Day recently which also featured a carnival sale organised for the very first time by its students.

“I am very proud of our students for making our very first carnival sale a success. It shows that our students put in the right attitude and dedication to organise and invite merchants from outside to participate in our event. Their effort has paid off.

“This is actually what we would like to see from the students in Executive College. They do not only learn in the classroom but they successfully apply what they learn in real life,” said EC chief executive officer Sheila Sie.

The one- day event also featured an exclusive, free hands- on Quantity Surveying workshop, programme previews for all programmes offered in EC, student counselling sessions, personality- career tests, campus tours and interactive games.

Those who came also viewed a demonstration of innovative teaching and learning facilities in EC and had the opportunity to create their own iBook/iMovie using iPads. There were also displays of EC students’ works for all programmes.

EC offers Foundation programme, Diploma in Business Administration and Diploma in Quantity Surveying, which offer pathways to Bachelor Degree programmes in prestigious universities in Malaysia, Australia and the United Kingdom.

Students can also further their studies in Bachelor of Business Administration ( Hons) and Bachelor of Technology ( Hons) in Construction Management programmes, in collaboration with Infrastructure University Kuala Lumpur ( IUKL).

All EC courses are accredited and recognised by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) and Ministry of Higher Education ( MOHE). The Diploma in Quantity Surveying awarded by

EC is recognised by the Board of Quantity Surveyors Malaysia ( BQSM) and Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia ( RISM).

EC offers scholarships such as High Achiever and Merit Scholarships for students who perform well in their studies, while those who have held leadership roles in extracurricular activities at school or are high achievers at national, regional or state level activities are eligible for the ExtraCurriculum Excellence Award. The deadline for scholarship applications is on April 24.

Alternatively, students can apply for a National Higher Education Fund Corporation ( PTPTN) loan — a 1 per cent interest study loan provided by the government to assist students financially. Tuition fees can also be paid from withdrawal of savings from EPF Account 2 for qualified EPF members.

EC is an institution like no other as every new student is entitled to a free iPad Mini as an integrated learning tool. Students are not required to purchase textbooks, as all their learning materials, handouts and assignments are accessible in their given iPad. Learning is brought to a whole new level at EC, as it is no longer confined to the classroom but can take place anytime and anywhere.

Furthermore, in 2016, EC introduced the ‘100 Per cent Job & Internship Priority programme with KTS Group of Companies’ where the students can secure a job placement at any one of the group’s companies upon graduating. EC graduates can apply for jobs in any company under the KTS Group and their application will be given priority.

Registration is still open and classes will commence on April 24. Students who are interested to inquire about courses are encouraged to bring along their actual SPM, STPM or UEC results and their MyKad.

The college is open from Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm at 2nd Floor, Crown Square, 88 Jalan Pending, Kuching. In the month of April, EC will be open on Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 4pm.
