State government to seek more funds for village extension scheme
SADONG JAYA: The government will continue to implement the village extension scheme to meet the needs of the people in its focus on the development of rural and sub-urban areas in the state.
According to Second Minister of Resource Planning and Environment Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, the scheme is popular and the government will seek more funds in the midterm review of the current 11th Malaysia Plan (11MP) to carry out more such projects.
He added that the government, has approved RM174.84 million under the current 11th Malaysia Plan (11MP) to improve infrastructure, drainage, water and electricity supply. to 35 villages under the extension, and resettlement scheme across the state.
“The government will continue to carry out the village extension scheme which is popular to provide a more conducive environment to the people and to address the problem of overcrowded homes.
“The scheme will also help to increase the income of the people to venture into cottage industry because a site for the industry will also be built in the area,” he said, at the earth-breaking ceremony of a village extension scheme at Kampung Jemukan, here yesterday.
Also present at the ceremony was Sadong Jaya assemblyman Aidel Lariwoo.
For Samarahan, Awang Tengah said the government has implemented 34 village extension and resettlement schemes with the allocation of 4,773 lots out of which 2,527 lots have been issued with titles.
Under the current 11MP, five village extension schemes have been implemented in Samarahan, including Kampung Jemukan costing RM41.36 million with the allocation of 1,222 lots.
On Kampung Jemukan project, Awang Tengah said it involved land acquisition of 13.3201ha and compensation has been paid in 2015.
He thanked the land owners for their co- operation which enabled the project to run smoothly.
