SAN FRANCISCO: Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is likely to be cast for the next sequel of Rush Hour.

Rush Hour director Brett Ratner is reported to have offered him a role.

The Hindustan Times newspaper had reported that Ratner expressed an interest in casting Khan in the next Rush Hour film if it ever gets made.

On whether he could be part of the cast, Shah Rukh said: “Yes, whenever he ( Ratner) has a film,” and added: “He asked me, ‘What role should I pen you in?’ And I said, ‘it can be whichever role and I’ll do it.’”

Shah Rukh added that even if he is not cast, he would still like to see Rush Hour leads Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker “shoot in India because Rush Hour is all over the world. .. And it’s high time that such a wonderful and beautiful action- comedy film came to India. I’ll get involved in some way or the other. I’ll do the production for him ( Ratner) if I am not acting.”

Shah Rukh and Ratner had interacted at the San Francisco International Film Festival. Shah Rukh was among this year’s honorees.

He and Ratner shared the stage after the screening of the 2010 film My Name Is Khan.

The Hollywood-meets-Bollywood encounter turned into a dance session when Shah Rukh offered to teach Ratner some moves. In a short clip posted by Ratner on his Instagram account, the director is seen following Shah Rukh’s lead to the popular song “Lungi Dance” from Khan’s 2013 hit film Chennai Express. “Inspiring, humble, a great dancer, and smells great too!!,” Ratner wrote.

Ratner is not new to connecting with Bollywood. Back in 2010, he worked on a special edit of Bollywood romance Kites aimed at mainstream US audiences. The original, directed by Anurag Basu, starred top actor Hrithik Roshan and Mexican actress Barbara Mori and was filmed in the US and Mexico.
