Eight arrested, over 3kg of drugs seized
MIRI: Narcotics police from the state Police Headquarters arrested eight people including three women and seized over three kilogrammes of various types of drugs in three separate ambushes here from 12pm on Friday until early yesterday morning.
The first ambush was made at a shop house in Permy Technology Park at 12pm on Friday where three local men were rounded up.
Upon checking the premises, police found two packets of drugs suspected to be Ketamine AB weighting 78.94g, nine smaller packets of drugs also believed to be Ketamine, a digital weighing scale and small plastic packagings believed to be used to pack the drugs.
The police also confiscated a car and several valuable items including cash worth RM134,450 from the suspects.
The arrest of the three suspects then led the police to the arrest of a husband and wife aged 29 and 20 at a house in Vista Perdana at about 12.05am yesterday.
The police seized among other things, a luggage bag containing dried leaves suspected to be Marijuana weighing about 440g.
Following the arrest of the couple, the police then made the third ambush at a house also in Vista Perdana and arrested three other persons including a China woman aged 25, 34 and 41.
There the police discovered a total of 3,021g of Ketamine, 54.14g of Syabu, nine gramme of Ecstacy pills, 10g of Ecstacy powder and 32g of Marijuana worth about RM100,000.
Miri deputy police chief, Supt. Stanley Jonathan Ringgit confirmed the case.
The first three suspects were being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952 and Section 39(a)(1) of the same Act while the remaining suspects were being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952.
