Sebuyau gets new clinic to replace 50-year-old building
SEBUYAU: A new clinic with improved facilities will be built here to replace the existing building, which is more than half a century old.
Costing about RM12.4 million on a seven-acre land at Sebuyau New Township, the project is expected to be completed in October next year and come equipped with parking lots and staff quarters.
On Friday, a handing over of the project site to the contractor Dermaga Makmur Sdn Bhd by the Public Works Department (JKR) was held, witnessed by Assistant Minister for Rural Economy (Coastal Areas) and Fisheries Datuk Julaihi Narawi.
According to JKR project manager (Building) Mohd Iswandi Ahmad Zaidin, the project is similar to the one in Asajaya.
“Within the next 18 months, a new clinic at the site (Sebuyau New Township) at a cost of M12.4 million will be ready to replace the old building, which was built in 1960.
“Work on the project will start immediately,” he said, when presenting the project briefing.
He added that the title of the land for the project had also been issued by the Land and Survey Department (LSD).
Julaihi said it was a dream come true for the people in Sebuyau to have a new clinic, noting that the site for the project was already approved more than 10 years ago.
He thanked the government and the LSD, JKR, Samarahan Resident’s office and Health Department among others for realising the project.
There are two clinics in Sebuyau constituency - one each in Sebangan and Sebuyau - with each having two doctors.
Julaihi, who is also Assistant Minister for Industrial Development (Investment and Promotion) urged the people in the area to work closely with the various government departments and agencies to enable projects to be carried out in the area smoothly.
“The projects that we all see today (in Sebuyau) are possible through the cooperation of the government departments and agencies and the strong support for the Barisan Nasional (BN) government,” he pointed out.
He added that apart from the clinic, SMK Sebuyau and a mosque will also be located at Sebuyau New Township, adding that the new mosque is more than 40 per cent completed, while RM1.1 million has been paid for land compensation for the school project.
Among those present were Samarahan Resident Ibrahim Lumpu, Samarahan Health officer Dr Nur Fatihah Abdullah and Dermaga Makmur Sdn Bhd managing director Spady Nyanat.
