Youngpreneurs Go Carnival to attract 5,000 students

-

KOTA SAMARAHAN: At least 5,000 students are expected at the two-day Youngpreneurs Go (YPGO) Carnival being held at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) here.

Organised by the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM), the carnival is held for the second time in the country to draw undergraduates into entrepreneurship.

Among the activities held are street soccer, netball, mini games, art sketching, Zumba and fun ride.

Various other performances including buskers as well as quizzes and lucky draws are part of the two-day event.

A total of 70 booths offering various products and 20 exhibition booths by government agencies and private corporations have been set up for the carnival.

To attract students to the event, the organiser has invited entrepreneurs and online celebrities including Elfira Loy, Hisham Salleh, Aida Gadis Melayu and Fizo Omar to share their success story.

SSM reminds Sarawakian students to make full use of the ‘1Pelajar 1Pendaftaran Perniagaan’ (1Student 1Registration of Business) Scheme which has been allocated RM10 million over a period of 10 years.

Under the scheme, all students from public and private institutions of higher learning will be exempted from all business registration charges as stipulated under the Registration of Businesses Act 1956 should they register their business with SSM.

Through the RM10 million grant, each student is eligible to apply for a one-time business registration under a sole proprietorship or a partnership using a trade name for a period of one year only.
