Aiman Mall, latest landmark in Kota Samarahan
KUCHING: Aiman Mall has become another significant landmark for Kota Samarahan that is slowly progressing into a city of knowledge.
The new modern mall was officially opened yesterday by Assistant Minister for Entrepreneur Development Datuk Naroden Majais, who represented Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg.
“The government has plans to develop Kota Samarahan as the city of knowledge with enviable learning infrastructure, modern amenities complete with connectivity that will enhance travel, trade and general movement of people within the municipality,” he said.
“This place will also have high degree of social cohesion as well as access to a series of benefits including health, education, housing and other services.”
With all the development to enhance the quality of life of people in place, Kota Samarahan would function as the engine of economic growth for the surrounding areas.
He encouraged developers and investors to continue implementing social infrastructure that positively impact the local community and promote sustainable development.
“For instance, open up spaces for small traders to do business and set up stalls for food and drinks or sales of local products.
“These are some of the strategies to add value to the mall as well as offer more choice and options to consumers,” he elaborated.
Aiman Mall chairman Samat Othman in his speech thanked the state government for supporting the project and the people for their warm response.
“All the shops in the mall have opened and we hope shoppers can come and enjoy shopping in this unique environment. Many activities and promotions have been rolled out in conjunction with our grand opening,” he said.
Aiman Mall, which spreads over 140,000 sq feet, costs RM30 million to build and features H&L Supermarket as the anchor tenant, Grand Super Mart (GSM), DIY store, After 4 Kopitiam and other outlets.
“With the area becoming more accessible especially after the completion of Sadong Bridge and Samarahan Bridge, Aiman Mall will become a shopping paradise for the people,” he added.
Aiman Mall managing director Lee Chin Teck, Assistant Agriculture Minister Malcolm Mussen Lamoh, Kota Samarahan MP Rubiah Wang, Samarahan Resident Ibrahim Lumpu and Kota Samarahan Municipal Council chairman Dato Peter Minos were among those at the colourful ceremony.
