AirAsia Runway Ready Designer Search returns to M’sia

-

KUALA LUMPUR: AirAsia Runway Ready Designer Search returns to Malaysia in search of aspiring designers to compete on a regional level and showcase their collection on a professional runway during the KL Fashion Week Ready to Wear (KLFW RTW).

AirAsia chief executive officer Aireen Omar said the search is a regional tour in all the capital cities throughout all Asean countries where two from each country would be selected to battle for the top honour during the Grand Finale in Kuala Lumpur this August.

“We know that talent is abundant across the region and we are proud to have initiated this platform to help up-and-coming designers kick-start their careers.

“We saw amazing ideas and creativity from the participants today which made it rather challenging for the judges to pick the best two finalists to represent Malaysia,” she said in a statement yesterday.

She said the two finalists chosen to represent Malaysia were Andrew Low, 26, and Phynix Tan Pek Han, 22, and they will be showcasing their creations at the grand finale which will take place in Kuala Lumpur this August.

Aireen said both finalists from the audition in Malaysia would stand a chance to win 150,000 AirAsia BIG Points, RM25,000 fund to produce a capsule collection to be sold on fashionvalet.com, and a six-page fashion spread in AirAsia's in-flight magazine, Travel3Sixty.

She added that the winner at the grand finale would also win AirAsia flights and mentorship from the KLFW RTW, apart from a confirmed slot to showcase their full collection in KL Fashion Week RTW 2018.
