SRI AMAN: The divisional National Unity and Integration Department (JPNIN) has proposed for the setup of neighbourhood committees ( KRTs) at Ulu Undop, Undop Tengah, Sungai TengakMenalang, San and Klassen areas here.

According to JPNIN Sri Aman officer Fikri Emir Zulkefli, the department also plans to select new members for any existing KRT that is inactive here.

“Additionally, we strive to activate the Volunteer Patrol Scheme ( SRR) at 15 KRTs in Sri Aman.

“We are eyeing on having centralised activities where the KRTs would be more involved. We also plan to run other activities such as a futsal tournament, cultural shows, community programmes and also the ‘JPNIN Appreciation Night’,” he told reporters after leading a delegation from JPNIN Sri Aman for a courtesy call on Assistant Minister for Rural Economy ( Interior Areas) and Plantation Datuk Francis Harden Hollis at Sarawak United People’s Party ( SUPP) Simmanggang branch office yesterday.

The main objective of the visit was to share information with and update Harden on the current development of and planning by JPNIN for this division, especially in Simanggang constituency, where Harden is the assemblyman.

In his remarks, Harden expressed his satisfaction with JPNIN’s approach in meeting him personally.

“I hope that other departments could emulate the JPNIN in meeting me to discuss systematic plans and programmes slated for the benefit of the local communities,” he said.

The JPNIN delegates comprised its Sri Aman officers Dunstant Angu, Mohamad Firdaus Ramli and Siti Aisyah Mohamad Nor Hajini, who were welcomed by Harden’s secretary Philip Foster Hollis and SUPP Simanggang executive secretary Ling Siew Hung.
