BEKENU: The dawn of the digital economy announced by Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg will enable further promotion of Subis District’s tourism attractions.

Second Minister of Resource Planning and Environment Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said Subis has come a long way from an economic backwater to become vibrant suburbs which could be further developed under a digitally driven economy.

He added the coastal road link to Bintulu, the hub of the Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy ( SCORE), would give Subis folk access to larger markets for their agricultural produce.

socioeconomic landscape,” he said when representing Abang Johari at the opening of the Subis Regatta 2017 in Bekenu yesterday.

The regatta, which began in 1959, has been a unifying factor in Subis.

Awang Tengah said stability, peace and unity are the pillars of development and transformation, which Subis folk should continue to uphold for further progress.

He concurred with the Sibuti member of Parliament Ahmad Lai Bujang’s call for land opposite Bekenu town to be developed, saying this would be done according to the development plan.

He said the RM5 million Bungai beachside development project would be further enhanced along with Trusan beach’s attractions.

On the mini stadium, he said RM2.5 million has been allocated by the state government for the project.

Awang Tengah added that cooperation and teamwork are essential to realise the big picture transformation of the district.

“Do not be swayed by instigators but be focused on the strength of collective efforts and values which have brought much progress to us in moving forward,” he added.

Among those present were Assistant Minister for Solidarity Rosey Yunus, and Lambir assemblyman Ripin Lamat.
