Pending rep told not to point finger for publicity

-

KUCHING: Pending assemblywoman Violet Yong should bring the people’s problems straight to the related authorities instead of pointing finger at other people for her own publicity.

SUPP Pending Youth secretary Milton Foo in giving this reminder to Yong said: “She fails to fight for any new drains or upgrading of drains in her constituency ever since she became its representative for the past 10 years.

“All she does is just fingerpointing without providing viable solution to solve the people’s problems,” said Foo in a press statement yesterday.

Foo was responding to Yong’s statement that SUPP officials went to the drain upgrading site in front of Tian Hou Gong Temple at Jalan Bintawa and announced the ‘completion’ of the project on suppnewsportal on March 23. However, Yong claimed it was ‘incomplete’ because there were a few things more that had to be done.

Yong had said Jalan Bintawa had to be repaired after the drain upgrading work damaged a section of the road. Grass should also be planted on both sides of the drain and guard rails erected along the drain for safety.

“As a local YB, her duty is to bring up any local issue to the relevant authorities ( Kuching South City Council in this instance) for solution via sincere action rather than merely supervising the contractor by finger-pointing through the press for her own publicity,” said Foo.

He acknowledged there were remaining issues arising from the drain construction including damage to the road surface and the need to plant grass along the newly constructed drain.

“Indeed, we have also raised the same to the contractor after our last visit to the site and urged them to remedy it as soon as possible,” said Foo.
