-

KUCHING: AirAsia Bhd (AirAsia) continues to strengthen its connectivity to and within its Malaysian hubs with the introduction of three new routes – Langkawi to Shenzhen, Langkawi to Kuching and Johor Bahru to Kuala Terengganu.

In a press release by the airline, it was revealed that the new routes scheduled to take off from Langkawi will begin on Aug 9 and will run three times weekly to Shenzhen and four times weekly to Kuching.

Meanwhile, flights from Johor Bahru to Kuala Terrengganu will commence earlier this year on June 22 with flights running three times weekly.

Commenting on the new routes is Spence Lee, head of AirAsia’s commercial side who said, “We are excited to expand our network with the introduction of three new routes through the two key hubs in Malaysia.

“This is in line with our commitment to provide guests with more connectivity from East to West Malaysia; South state of Johor to East Coast.

“We are determined to make air travel more affordable, convenient, and accessible to all guests in the region and beyond by connecting them from one point to another seamlessly.”

Lee pointed out that one of the key focuses in the new routes is to grow Langkawi and establish it as an international hub.

“For this, we are working closely with Langkawi Development Authority ( LADA), to market Langkawi as a top tourist destination in China. Our current route from Langkawi to Guangzhou is performing well and we are confident this brand new connectivity will certainly boost tourist arrivals even further.”

In celebration of the launch of these new routes, AirAsia will be offering celebratory promotional all-in- fares starting from RM59 one way for Johor Bahru – Kuala Terrengganu (JB- KT) flights, RM79 one way for Langkawi to Kuching ( LGK-KCH) flights and RM999 one way for Langkawi – Shenzhen ( LGK- SZX) flights.

These celebratory fares will be available for booking from now until May 7, 2017 and their travel periods will be from their commencement until June 5, 2018.

Additionally, AirAsia BIG members who book during the promotion period can also look forward to earning double AirAsia BIG Points on their base fare.
