Man electrocut­ed to death in car paint shop

KUCHING: A car paint shop owner was killed after he was electrocut­ed in his workshop at Jalan Kangkok, Batu Kawah here yesterday.

It is believed that the incident happened around 12pm when the victim, Chong Yin Mee, 52, who lived at Taman Desa Bumiko, Batu Kawah was alone at the workshop when he was found dead.

According to a source, the victim was found lying motionless on the ground with foam around his mouth beside a car by a postman who came by the workshop to deliver mail.

The postman immediatel­y contacted Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for assistance; the victim was later pronounced dead by the paramedics despatched to the scene.

When one of the paint shop employees came back from his lunch break, he directly contacted the deceased’s family members to notify them about the incident.

The victim was believed to have been conducting some wiring works before he was electrocut­ed.

The incident was classified as sudden death pending a post mortem.

In an unrelated incident, a man was rushed to SGH after being allegedly robbed by a group of men while he was walking alone at Satok.

The victim claimed to have been confronted by four unknown male individual­s who then beat him up before fleeing with cash belonging to him.

Members of the public who witnessed the incident contacted an ambulance and the victim was rushed to SGH for medical treatment.
