KUCHING: The Malaysian Institute of Architects Sarawak Chapter ( PAMSC) will be hosting a free public lecture at Chung Hua Middle School No. 1 Auditorium (Jalan Pending) at 6pm on May 5.

A press statement from PAMSC said the lectures are sponsored by Nippon Paint as one of the industry partners who share and support its vision to raise awareness of good designs in architecture.

Nippon Paint according to the statement has a track record of nurturing design in Malaysia and the region, especially with their Asia Young Designer Award (Ayda).

One of the winners of this award, Hanis Abdul Razak from Nkwa Architects will be speaking about his work and the innovative design behind his projects.

The second speaker from Kuching is Ar Nurina Matnor who has a local practice named Arkitek Nurina Matnor.

She is responsible for several high profile projects in town, including the pedestrian canopy at India Street.

The inclusion of local architects in the talk, according to PAMSC, is to create awareness among the public of our home-grown talent in design.

The keynote speaker at the talk will be the principal of a wellestablished design firm, Teh Joo Heng from Singapore.

Teh will demonstrate through his projects how he develops imaginative and innovative solutions to conventional design problems.

His talk is expected to be inspiring, especially for students wanting to study architecture and other designrelated fields.

Seats are limited and those keen to attend the lecture may register online at info@ pamsc.org.my.
