Uggah: Don’t take our leader lightly

KUCHING: Parti Pesaka Bumpiputera Bersatu ( PBB) has warned its opponents not to take their new leadership for granted.

“To our opponents out there, don’t you dare challenge us because we stand firm behind our president Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg.

“We will not take even a step backward, but move forward as one team with one heart and in one spirit,” said its acting deputy president Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah at the PBB ‘ Jasamu Dikenang’ special assembly at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching here yesterday.

Uggah, who is also deputy chief minister, assured that PBB’s current leaders would continue to strive to ensure the party leads Sarawak to greater heights and into a golden era.

He congratulated Abang Johari on his appointment as sixth chief minister and PBB president, adding that everyone in PBB welcomes his appointment.

“Today, if I’m not mistaken, is his 112th day in office as chief minister. And in just a short period, he has ‘ shaken’ the whole country, Sarawak in particular, with his excellent performance.

“Bakun HEP dam is now ours. And after more than 50 years of independence we will have our own bank – Development Bank of Sarawak (DBOS).

“He has also allocated RM1 billion to upgrade ICT, paving the way for Sarawak to move towards the digital economy.

“Abang Johari has approved more than RM1 billion to implement several projects in rural areas to realise the late Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem’s policy to develop rural areas.

“He has proven that he is a leader of all Sarawakians, regardless of race and religion, having visited about three quarters of the state during his 112 days as chief minister.

“Abang Johari is a visionary leader, bold and has close relationship with Kuala Lumpur. We are indeed very lucky to have a leader in the person of Abang Johari, who is people- centric,” he said.
