According to Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) director-general Tan Sri Othman Mustapha, the ‘Mahrajan Amal Islami Saudara Kita’ aims to challenge those who have just embraced Islam but more importantly, it serves to guide them in understanding the principles, obligations and teachings in Islam especially the ‘fardu ain’ (personal / individual obligations), ‘tauhid’ (principles based on the ‘Oneness of God’) and ‘fiqh’ (a segment of Islamic laws that governs the actions in both worship and daily life).
“It is my wish to see that such event could assist our ‘mualaf’ (Muslim convert) brothers and sisters in understanding Islam better and to live as true Muslims,” he said.
Sarawak Islamic Council chairman Datu Misnu Taha also attended the ceremony.
