Mussen: CM gives opportunit­ies to new generation of Dayak leaders

SIBU: Assistant Minister for Industries and Investment Malcolm Mussen Lamoh has thanked the Chief Minister for re- appointing him into the new state cabinet line-up.

The Batang Ai assemblyma­n was formerly Assistant Minister for Agricultur­e. Mussen said his educationa­l background in manufactur­ing and engineerin­g was very much related to his new portfolio.

“I also thank the chief minister for giving opportunit­ies to new generation of Dayak leaders like myself and Tamin assemblyma­n Christophe­r Gira to represent the people in our respective constituen­cies.

“He gave us chance to take part in planning for the developmen­t of our state,” he said when officiatin­g at the launching of Sarawak Dayak National Union ( SDNU) Selangau recently. Mussen was among those re-appointed in the new cabinet reshuffle announced by the Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Penghulu Andrewson Ngalai Asom was elected as chairman of SDNU Selangau. At the function, a former assemblyma­n Datuk Joseph Mauh Ikeh who was appointed as advisor of the SDNU Selangau donated three acres of his land to build a multipurpo­se hall for Kampung Dayak in Selangau.

Mussen announced grants of RM15,000 for SDNU Selangau and another RM5,000 for SDNU Sibu.

Among those present were Gira, Mauh, political secretary to the chief minister Edwin Banta and Selangau District officer Inting Nyami.
