Pool resources for more efficient delivery system, urges rep

JULAU: The people in Meluan are urged to pool their resources for more effective and efficient implementation of government development programmes and projects so that the constituency will not continue to lag behind other areas.

Meluan assemblyman Rolland Duat reiterated that teamwork among all parties in the government delivery system was key to ensuring what had been planned would be translated into reality accordingly.

Speaking during a leader with the people gathering at Rumah Unsan, Nanga Beduie, Sungai Merurun near here recently, Rolland once again repeated his call for grassroots leaders and officers of all government departments to work together.

“The tuai rumahs and community leaders in general, like the government officers must be prepared to shoulder the responsibility as part of the delivery system. Otherwise, they are advised to excuse themselves and leave it to those capable of doing the job”, he stressed.

As an elected representative of Meluan and entrusted with a leading role in the delivery system, he placed high expectations on both the community leaders and the government officers, hence he was obliged to push them to perform to their limits, Rolland added.

He regarded Meluan as still struggling to put all the basic infrastructure and facilities such as road connectivity, treated water supply, electricity supply and telecommunication system in place to enable it to participate in the next level of development.

“We have to rush against time to get all the basic infrastructures in place or else we will be left behind in economic development especially when the government has committed itself in providing all the facilities for e-commerce or digital economy,” he reiterated.

He was glad to note that many local community leaders who had been reluctant to respond to his call to work together had understood and accepted his sincerity and had expressed their willingness to work together for the sake of development.

During the function, Rolland presented a minor rural project ( MRP) grant cheque of RM10,000 to the security and development committee of Rumah Unsan and pledged another RM2,000 for its women Bureau.
