In the conferment ceremony held aboard RMN frigate KD Lekiu, the Purple Beret, which is also Paskal’s honorary beret, was presented to His Majesty by Armed Forces chief Gen Tan Sri Raja Mohamed Affandi Raja Mohamad Noor, while the beret certificate was handed over by Navy chief Tan Sri Ahmad Kamarulzaman Ahmad Badaruddin.

The Trimedia badge was pinned by Paskal commander Jamalludin Mohd Seman.

Paskal’s Purple Beret is a symbol of pride, courage, perseverance, loyalty and willingness to sacrifice anything for the sake of national interests and the country’s sovereignty.

Since its inception, the honorary beret has been awarded to 10 national dignitaries, including former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad; Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak (who accepted it during his appointment as Minister of Defence); and former Navy chief Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Jaafar.
