-

PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Immigration Department cooperated with the Malaysian Anti- Corruption Commission ( MACC) in providing intelligence information and conducting internal checks in connection with the arrest of two Perlis Immigration officers suspected of being involved in a syndicate falsifying applications of Trade Officers.

In a statement issued yesterday, Immigration director- general Datuk Seri Mustafar Ali said the department is always transparent and committed in giving full cooperation to ensure the officers who committed offences were punished.

“The department will not compromise with officers who violate integrity and will not protect those involved in activities which affect its good name and image,” he said.

“He said other than the two officers, another man who was the proxy was also arrested for suspected involvement in the crime.

“The department will contribute to break the network and cripple these syndicates,” he said.

Mustafa stressed that stern action would be taken at the department level if the officers were found guilty of committing the offence.

“The department is serious and committed in ensuring that integrity of its officers are always at the maximum level,” he said. — Bernama
