Morshidi: Transformation of civil service ongoing

-

KUCHING: The state civil service has been undergoing extensive transformation in preparing civil servants for the new era of technology and digital economy.

Fully aware of the rapid changes happening outside Sarawak, State Secretary Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohd Morshidi Abdul Ghani said the preparation has been ongoing since five years ago.

“The state civil service has undergone extensive transformation over the last five years in terms of systems, processes, human capital development and structures.

“This transformation is on- going to prepare them for the new era of technology and now for the digital economy,” Morshidi told The Borneo Post after the opening of first session of the second term of the 18th State Legislative Assembly sitting at the State Assembly Complex here yesterday.

He said civil servants need to realise that when the world is undergoing change, they also need to change their ways in conducting daily businesses and works.

“We need to be different in how we conduct our work and no more business as usual. We need good and outstanding people to be in the service to meet the challenges of the new world of finance, research and science as well as technologies.”

In face of the new challenges, Morshidi said the state civil service has been exercising stringent selection and filtration to ensure that new staff are nothing less than the best.
