Sultan Nazrin praises Royal Medical Corps for service excellence
KUALA LUMPUR: The Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah yesterday commended the Royal Medical Corps’ ( KKD) excellent performance which has brought glory to the country through various recognitions it received, including at the international level.
Sultan Nazrin, who is also Colonel-in- chief of KKD, said the corps’ achievements were the result of its continuous, consistent and systematic efforts, which also had direction.
In 2016, the KKD received various recognitions including the National Innovation Award: Portable Dental Treatment Unit, five- star rating for Public Service and the top Malaysian Army’s Pusat Tanggungjawab Kewangan.
The water filtration system created by the KKD also won recognition from the United Nations and was introduced in Afghanistan, Cambodia and some African countries.
“The KKD’s achievements and excellence in its first 50 years of existence should serve as an inspiration to achieve more,” Sultan Nazrin said in his speech at a parade to mark the corps’ Golden Jubilee celebration, at Camp Perdana Sungei Besi, here, yesterday.
The parade mounted by 15 officers and 317 members of the KKD was led by Lt Col ( Dr) Yussra Yusoff.
Also present were Army deputy chief Lt Gen Datuk Seri Panglima Ahmad Hasbullah Mohd Nawawi and KKD chairman, Lt Gen Datuk ( Dr) Abdul Razak Md Yusoff.
The Perak Sultan also said that military and medicine were a combination of two professions, with the tasks and responsibilities stretching round the clock and could cross time zones.
He said that when chosen to join the KKD, its members were entrusted with twin responsibilities as a military and medical personnel at the same time.
“Hence, it is a huge ‘fardu kifayah’ (obligation). Hopefully, your noble services and contributions will receive divine blessings and rewards in this world and the hereafter,” Sultan Nazrin said. — Bernama
