In a congratulatory message to Umno on its 71st anniversary, the MACC said that Umno as a political party and the main pillar of the government and with the most number of seats, its leaders played a vital role in formulating policies for the country’s development and progress.

As leaders, Umno members are the hopes of the people to carry out their responsibilities and uphold the trust accorded to them to protect their interest and wellbeing, the message said.

“The MACC hopes that these leaders take the trust given to them seriously so that the people will benefit from the government they set up,” it said.

The MACC also said it hoped Umno members would give emphasis to fighting corruption and abuse of power so that they could set a good example to the future generations who would be leading the country. — Bernama
