Palm oil stocks rise 3.02 pct to 1.59 mln tonnes in April

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s total palm oil stocks in April increased 3.02 per cent to 1.59 million tonnes from 1.55 million tonnes recorded in March.

Crude palm oil (CPO) stocks rose 9.84 per cent to 861,983 tonnes during the month in review from 784,782 tonnes registered a month earlier, the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) said in a statement yesterday.

However, stocks of processed palm oil declined 3.94 per cent to 737,911 tonnes from 768,206 tonnes, it said.

On production, MPOB said CPO output added 5.74 per cent to 1.55 million tonnes in April from 1.46 million tonnes recorded in the previous month.

Palm kernel output rose 3.41 per cent to 387,312 tonnes in April versus March’s production of 374,530 tonnes .

The board said exports increased 1.39 per cent to 1.28 million tonnes in April from 1.26 million tonnes in the previous month.

Export of oleochemic­als decreased 29.11 per cent to 173,667 tonnes from 244,993 tonnes in March.

Palm kernel oil exports fell 24.02 per cent to 53,753 tonnes in April from 70,748 tonnes recorded in the previous month but palm kernel cake rose 93.40 per cent to 214,680 tonnes from 111,004 tonnes, previously.

In April, biodiesel exports jumped 582.82 per cent to 37,857 tonnes against March’s 5,544 tonnes. — Bernama
