MDTCC, PNS explore potential franchise business in Cambodia

-

KUALA LUMPUR: The Ministry of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism ( MDTCC) and Perbadanan Nasional Bhd ( PNS) have strengthened efforts to explore the potential franchise businesses in Cambodia and promote the industry through a trade mission at the Cafe Cambodia and Franchise and Licensing Cambodia Exhibition 2017.

In a statement yesterday, PNS said Cambodia was growing progressively and it shared the same aspirations as Malaysia in growing its economy through the franchise business. It said franchise entrepreneurs should explore the vast opportunities in Cambodia such as the hospitality, food and beverage and education sectors.

As part of the trade mission to the expo held on May 4 to 6, MDTCC Deputy Minister, Datuk Henry Sum Agong paid a courtesy call on Cambodia Minister of Commerce, Pan Sorasak, to strengthen existing ties between Malaysia and Cambodia, particularly between the ministries.

Henry said Cambodia was in the process of developing its franchise law and Malaysia could provide assistance in exchanging and sharing its expertise through the country’s established law.

“Although Cambodia is transforming, its accession to Madrid Protocol for International Registration of Marks will be an added value for us to learn and exchange expertise as we charter our application,” he added. — Bernama
