3,000 take part in ‘Run with Bomba’ charity event
MIRI: The third ‘Run with Bomba’ charity event held yesterday was a great success, attracting nearly 3,000 participants from Sarawak, Johor, Sabah, Brunei Darussalam, Kenya, Australia, Thailand, Philippines and Denmark.
Compared to the previous edition, the run, themed ‘ Run with Charity Flame in Our Heart,’ was extra special as it was held in conjunction with World Fire Fighter’s Day which celebrates fire fighters who put their lives on the line to save lives.
“The World Fire Fighter’s Day is also a significant way for society to show their confidence and trust towards fire fighters’ contribution in saving lives,” state Fire and Rescue Department director Nor Hisham Mohammad said when launching the run yesterday.
Nor Hisham lauded the run, which was initiated by Fire and Rescue Department Zone 6 chief Law Poh Kiong as a CSR programme, as it not only enabled a proactive relationship between the public and Fire and Rescue Department but also benefitted charitable homes.
This year’s Bomba Run has adopted Miri Autistic Association and Diabetes Malaysia Miri branch as beneficiaries of its proceeds.
“In addition to this, we were delighted to have 40 children from Hamidah Yakub Welfare
