Fourth Sarawak Timber and SMEs expo to have more exhibitors

-

KUCHING: Following a successful third edition, the Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation ( STIDC) has guided that the next edition of the Sarawak Timber and Small Medium Enterprises ( SMEs) expo will feature more exhibitors.

The biennial expo which is jointly organized by STIDC and the Industrial and Entrepreneur Development Ministry in conjunction with the state-level SME Week 2017, held its third edition at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching ( BCCK) from May 18 to 21.

According to the STIDC, the expo saw a total of 260 exhibitors taking up 494 exhibition booths, which was a whopping 48 per cent increase to the number of exhibitors the expo attracted in 2015.

Due to this overwhelming response, STIDC general manager Datu Sarudu Hoklai announced during an appreciation dinner for this year’s exhibitors on Saturday ( May 20) that the corporation would aim to invite more exhibitors to the fourth edition of the expo.

He expressed his hope that the expo would continue to grow in stature and reminded this year’s exhibitors to spread the word among the industry and invite more exhibitors to come and take up booths in future editions of the expo in order to exhibit their businesses and products.

In anticipation for a larger turn out at the next expo, Sarudu commented that it might be best to continue hosting the expo at BCCK due to its many halls and event space.

“We realise that there are many booths opened during the expo this year and we welcome more for the next edition. However, if the number of exhibitors continue to increase, we will definitely look for ways to accommodate them and I believe by hosting it at BCCK it would be possible.”

Meanwhile during the appreciation dinner which was officiated by Sarudu himself, a few other side activities were carried out such as a lucky draw and others. The dinner was attended by the officials or representatives of this year’s exhibitors.
