NGO teams up with Cats FM, Kumang contestant­s

KUCHING: With the Gawai Dayak celebratio­n just around the corner, Cats FM brought 10 ‘ Kumang Gawai Darlie’ contestant­s to volunteer with nongovernm­ental organisati­on ( NGO) Hope Place.

Apart from cleaning Hope Place, the volunteers also delivered food to families supported by NGO, and painted houses, with supplies sponsored by Cats FM for those celebratin­g Gawai.

The team visited Ayai Tom, who received items such as rice, cooking oil, and other daily necessitie­s. Ayai was touched and expressed appreciati­on for the gesture by Hope Place and Cats FM.

Hope Place visits poor and less fortunate families to contribute essential food items like rice and cooking oil.

For family with children with special needs, or with elderly or disabled people, the NGO provides milk powder, oats and diapers as well.

Hope Place carries out aid deliveries once every two months because of the many families on their recipients list. Currently, it supports more than 170 families.

Members of the public interested to make a donation are advised to request for a receipt from the staff at Hope Place.
