JJPTR trio released on police bail

-

BUKIT MERTAJAM: Three people, including the founder, detained over their alleged involvement in the JJ Poor To Rich (JJPTR) investment scheme were released by the magistrates’ court here yesterday.

Magistrate Dianne Ningrad Nor Azahar allowed the men aged between 28 and 29 to be released on police bail.

Meanwhile, counsel G Jaya Prem who represented the trio said a request for the court to reject the police remand application against his clients was made on the grounds that his clients had already been remanded for six days by the Klang Magistrate’s Court and fully cooperated throughout the police investigations.

On May 12, raids at eight locations in Penang were conducted by the Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department and Penang police in collaboration with Bank Negara Malaysia, Inland Revenue Board, as well as other related agencies.

All eight locations, comprising offices and residential units were believed to have been used by a syndicate as JJPTR operating centres.

As a result, 19 people comprising 15 employees and four investors aged between 23 and 40 were nabbed.

Also seized in the raids were seven computers and laptops, money counting machines, hundreds of company documents, television sets, closed circuit television cameras and RM3,300.

The syndicate is believed to have pocketed RM1.7 billion from investments made by victims. — Bernama
