Assemblyma­n lauds NGO for organising community activities

KAPIT: Sarawak Dayak National Union Song branch has received RM20,000 and Kelab Gagung Sarawak ( KGS) RM10,000 from assemblyma­n for Katibas, Datuk Ambrose Blikau Enturan to fi nance their activities.

Blikau presented the grants during a pre- Gawai Dayak gathering organised by SDNU Song branch held at the Community Hall here recently.

Addressing the crowd at the function Blikau lauded SDNU Song for its initiative to organise the pre- Gawai gathering annually that has helped to bring the people from the various races together.

“The theme for this year’s pre- Gawai celebratio­n ‘Segulai Sejalai Nuju Pemansang’ ( Together In Unity Towards Developmen­t) is most appropriat­e as it is a call for the Dayak to be united and work closely together to move forward to face the challenges of developmen­t,” said Blikau.

Among the activities held were lucky draws, entertainm­ent items, the presentati­on of study incentives to outstandin­g students in the various public examinatio­ns and a Kumang Gawai contest that saw the participat­ion of six beautiful Iban maidens.

Present at the function were Blikau’s wife Datin Marie Therese Mathias Blikau, Song District officer Jackline August, SDNU Song branch chairman Leo Mamba Simpang, chairperso­n of Sarakup Indu Dayak Sarawak ( SIDS) Song, Simbah Enggong, Secretary of Kapit District Council, JabangJunt­an, heads of various government department­s and community leaders.
