Distribution of free ‘Bubur Lambok and Pedas’ at 3pm on May 28
KUCHING: Tupong assemblyman Fazzruddin Abdul Rahman will help to distribute free ‘ Bubur Lambok and Pedas Kejiranan Mesra 2017’ in Taman Huseein, Petra Jaya at 3pm on May 28.
Datuk Bandar of Kuching City North Commission Datuk Abang Abdul Wahap Abang Julai said they would be the facilitator of this year’s disrtibution of the special flavoured porridge during the fasting month of Ramadan.
“This year, it will be distributed according to a specific date so that the event does not overlap with each other. It will start on the official launching day itself on May 28. And, it will go on until June 17,” he told a press conference at his office in Bukit Siol, Petra Jaya here recently.
“It will involve 22 residential areas in Petra Jaya and the distribution of this special porridge will continue to foster good relationships among the local residents and also of different races to strengthen national unity in the country,” he added.
Abdul Wahap said they are spending about RM60,000 to prepare the porridge this year.
“We have managed to reduce the cost this year becasue of assistance from other government agencies and corporate bodies,” he said.
Others involved are Malaysia Buidling Society Berhad ( RM8,500), Maggi ( providing kiosks to prepare the porridge, aprons, cooking ingredients (210 units) and fish tail (10 units) worth RM5,000, Bernas (one tonne of rice worth RM4,000), SEDC ( RM1,000 to buy fresh beef and chicken), Sarawak Islamic Relgious Department ( RM3,000), Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak ( RM3,000), Malaysia Islamic Development Department ( RM1,000 worth of food plastic containers), Fama (souvenirs and ingredients mixture worth RM2,000) and Mydin (RM3,000 worth of porridge ingredients).
The distribution dates and localities are: KJM Taman Husein( May 28) KJM Boyan, Gersik and Sourabaya (Jun 1), KJM Salak, KJMTaman Fitrah, KJM Kampung Malaysia Jaya,(Jun 3) Bandar Baru Samariang, Kampung Tunku, (Jun 4) Pasir Panjang (Jun 8), KJM Buntal, Muara Tebas, Bako Indah, Simpor, Taman Sourabaya Indah, Kudei Baru, Kampung No 3 and No4, Rampangi (Jun10), KJM Sungai Bedil Besar, KJM Patingan, Sungai Midin (Jun 11) KJM Kampung Sejingkat (Jun16) and KJM Kampung Pinang Jawa Kampung Lintang (Jun 17).
The distribution time for these localities is 3pm. Abdul Wahap said every year 50 poor families and single mothers identified from Kpg Tupong Ulu, Kpg Tupong Tengah, Kpg Sungai Laruh and in Taman Husein and Rahmat will be given Ramadan assistance of RM170 each, courtesy of MBSB’s RM8,500 contribution.
