SHAH ALAM: The success story of Sabahan, Anniza Soh who has been entrusted to serve with the world’s largest oilfield services company Schlumberger, is an inspiration for young women in the country to endeavour in their pursuits.

Anniza, 31, who hails from Tawau, Sabah, said through the National Transformation Programme (NTP) initiative, she was able to gain valuable experience in the field of engineering in several countries such as Qatar, Brazil and France immediately after graduating from Universiti Teknologi Petronas ( UTP).

“After returning from Schlumberger, I joined Talent Corp because I wanted to share my knowledge and experience om how to manage engineering operations in Malaysia. The engineering sector is dominated by men but I believe there are many talented young women in Malaysia and I’m not embarrassed to be in this field as our country is very supportive and I believe everyone can make it in this country,” she said.

Anizza’s success story is among the interesting ones that caught the attention of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak when he presented the 2016 National Transformation Programme (NTP) Report on Tuesday night.

Meanwhile, Maybank chairman Datuk Mohaiyani Shamsudin regarded her success and appointment as the first woman to helm the largest bank group in Malaysia with a sense of deep pride and utmost satisfaction.

“I’m satisfied with the success I achieved and it can become an inspiration for other women to strive for success and be successful. In fact the sky’s the limit, many women are successful and, to be honest, I never felt any gender discrimination in the workplace,” she said.

Mohaiyani said facilities provided by the government for working mothers also made it easier for women to excel in their job.

In the meantime, Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Rohani Abdul Karim said she was very happy with the fruitful achievement of the (1AZAM) programme to eradicate poverty under her ministry.

She said every time the report on the national transformation was released, the number of people who benefited from the 1AZAM programme continued to rise significantly. — Bernama
