MyKad delivery period shortened — NRD D-G

-

TAWAU: The Projek Hab Percetakan Teragih MyKad-Hab DPP was first launched at the Tawau National Registration Department ( NRD) yesterday.

This would soon be followed by other districts, said NRD directorgeneral Dato’ Mohd Yazid bin Ramli.

This means the MyKad delivery period was shortened from 10 days to five working days in Peninsular Malaysia and from 30 days to seven working days for Sabah and Sarawak, he said.

He said this Hab DPP did not have any motive in view of the coming general election and it was purely an added-value programme to secure MyKad delivery in a shorter time with low expenses.

Yazid said it also would reduce the cost of courier services ( Pos Laju) at an average of 28.7 per cent to 41.30 per cent.

For example, in Sabah,he said 1kg would cost between RM5.69 and RM7.24 instead of RM12.25 once the Hab DPP was launched.

In Sabah, there was a 60.74 per cent increase in using this Hab DPP between April 17 and May 23, this year.

The city of Kota Kinabalu has printed/issued 1,373 MyKad within this period, followed by Ranau (477), Kudat (379), Tuaran ( 306), Kota Belud ( 261), Beaufort (183), Inanam (132), Pitas (90) and Kuala Penyu (89).

Tawau zone itself has printed/ issued 252 MyKad for which Lahad Datu has 116 MyKad, Kunak (34), Semporna (74) and Tungku (24).

Yazid said the Hab DPP was able to reduce the system development cost, labour cost and Pos Laju courier service cost for NRD.
