Students attend forum on capital market & financial solution

MIRI: About 100 students and staff of IBS College here attended a one- day forum on capital market and financial solution held in conjunctio­n with the 2017 Capital Market & Financial Solution Roadshow held at Imperial Hotel on Tuesday.

Jointly organised by the Malaysian Financial Planning Council and Money Compass, the road show attracted over 150 participan­ts from various SMEs and other organisati­ons, for which IBS College made up the majority of the participan­ts of the forum held in conjunctio­n with the roadshow.

The speakers who came from various capital market industry players talked on topics such as P2P financing, private retirement scheme (PRS), government bodies and agencies funding scheme and incentives for SMEs, estate planning, equity crowd funding ( ECF), and initial public offering ( IPO).

Aside from the forum discussion­s, there were also exhibition­s on various products and services catering to the SMEs.

Miri was the last leg of the 2017 roadshow series which also took place at Penang, Johor Bahru, and Kuching.

The forum has allowed IBS students to gain much knowledge on capital market and financial solution. Many of them have better understand­ing now with regard to capital market. This will definitely be beneficial to them when they start their work in the future especially those who are taking accounting and finance.

IBS College offers Business and Finance programmes leading to certificat­e, diploma and degree levels with specialisa­tions in Accounting and Finance, Human Resources Management, Marketing Management, Internatio­nal Business and Business Administra­tion. IBS College will begin its Masters programme from Unimas in September 2017.

The college is also the first private institutio­n of higher learning in Sarawak to offer the Diploma in Security and Safety Management.
