St Joseph Private School raises over RM24,400 for SCCS

-

KUCHING: St Joseph Private School raised over RM24,400 during its third Go Bald Satellite Shave yesterday in support of the Sarawak Children’s Cancer Society (SCCS).

According to its principal Father Francis Lim, there were 13 male students who shaved their heads to stand in solidarity with children battling cancer.

This year, SCCS plans to raise RM1 million to continue providing support for childhood cancer patients and their families, through counselling services, providing accommodation, food and transport for outstation patients as well as fi nancial aids.

According to a press statement by SCCS, one child is diagnosed with cancer every five days in Sarawak. It is also the leading cause of death among children and adolescents in developed and developing countries.

However, childhood cancer is considered a modern day miracle due to the significant increase in survival rates especially in developed and high incomes countries. With awareness and support, SCCS aims to increase access to care for children with cancer.

Other organisations from any parts of Sarawak are encouraged to hold satellite shave at their own premises as part of their corporate social responsibility ( CSR) projects. For any inquiries on satellite shaves, call 082- 686276.
