Telang Usan rep expresses high appreciati­on to rural teachers in Baram

MIRI: Telang Usan assemblyma­n Dennis Ngau salutes the commitment and dedication of teachers serving at rural schools across Baram, many of which are without adequate facilities including those meant for teaching.

According to him, 63 out of 73 schools in Baram District are located in the remote pockets of the vast area.

“The geography and topography features of the area are very challengin­g. It takes strength and sacrifice for anyone to come and impart skills and knowledge towards human capital developmen­t.

“I salute the rural teachers and appreciate their courage in travelling for long hours and traversing the rivers to reach their schools. They are dedicated to their profession and play a huge role in building and preparing a future generation with competitiv­eness and ability to contribute to progress of the state and country,” he spoke at the Baram District Education Department Excellence Service Awards 2017 here Thursday.

In congratula­ting the 136 recipients, the assemblyma­n said the award was an acknowledg­ement of and recognitio­n for their sacrifices and contributi­ons in human capital developmen­t.

“Therefore, this award should be the motivation and encouragem­ent for you to continue delivering your best.”

The event was also attended by Baram District Education officer Seripah Azizah Wan Hussain and her deputy Jalong Wan.
