KUCHING: Magnum Cares has brought Gawai Dayak cheer to the community this year with custom-made bath towels, T-shirts and non-woven bags for 843 longhouse folk and 568 welfare home residents statewide.

A press release said in total, 1,411 beneficiaries from 17 longhouses and eight welfare homes received RM68,150 worth of angpows, foodstuff, gift items and cheque donations for Gawai Dayak.

Magnum Group CSR head Beh Swan Swan said Gawai Dayak is one of numerous Magnum Cares programmes initiated in support of the local community.

“We hope with our visits and wishes, we will help generate more awareness to others to think of the less fortunate and help in our own way to lift up the spirits of deserving folks during this auspicious festival; after all nobody can do everything but everybody can do something,” said Beh.

“In essence, during this joyous festive season, Magnum hopes to light up the spirit of the less fortunate and local community to welcome the festival with smiles and a happy heart. I wish to take this opportunity to wish all our Dayak friends a Happy and Blessed Gawai!”

In Sarawak, the Magnum Cares team comprising employees, sales partners and sales force held Gawai Dayak visits from May 18-26.

It is the company’s hope that the Magnum Cares spirit of sharing and caring for the needy will bring cheer to the community.
