SIBU: Muslim and non-Muslim visitors to the Ramadan bazaar at Bandong Walk here will definitely by spoilt for choice when it comes to selections of food, drinks and sweet treats from ‘ buka puasa’ ( break- of-fast).

This time around, Bandong Walk management has provided 35 stalls – a slight increase from the ones set up last year.

According to Bandong Walk coordinator Mohamad Safree Mohamad Kassim, the response from the public since the first day of Ramadan has been very encouraging.

“The food lovers even braved the rain on Sunday, checking out the wide selection of food and drinks sold there,” he told The Borneo Post here.

Mohamad Safree, 48, pointed out the strategic location of Bandong Walk as among the contributing factors that drew many people to the annual Ramadan bazaar.

“It is very convenient, especially for the folk nearby – they need not to go very far to get their food and drinks for ‘buka puasa’.” Another factor is the wide selection of food.

“The menu this year is slightly different from last year’s, in that many traders have included dishes from Peninsular Malaysia in addition to local favourites,” said Mohamad Safree. He also assured the public that all traders there have attended food handling courses.

“Proper food handing and cleanliness are our top priority. Traders have been told to keep their place clean. We also advise them to cover their food to protect them from flies,” he said.
