Nogeh: Support government for continued development
KUCHING: Voters in Mas Gading should stick to the government of the day if they are to see continued steady growth and development in their area.
Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Agro-Based Industry Datuk Anthony Nogeh said the people in his constituency still needed the government’s support to overcome various issues and challenges in their daily life.
He stressed that close relationship between the state and federal governments was crucial to ensuring that Sarawak continued to develop.
He said Sarawak, including Mas Gading, still needed special attention from the federal government, especially in terms of providing infrastructure for the people like roads, water and electricity supply for the development of rural economy.
Nogeh, who is Mas Gading Member of Parliament, said he had received so many new requests from villages in his area which he might only be able to fulfill next year.
“As the general election is around the corner, therefore I would like to urge voters in Mas Gading to maintain their strong support for Barisan Nasional in the polls.
“By doing so, you are helping me to fulfill your own requests and to realise my development agenda for the constituency in the next five years,” he said.
Nogeh has had a very hectic schedule over the last three weeks, officiating and joining various kinds of recreational, social and cultural functions including the pre-Gawai events organised by the villages in his constituency.
During the functions, he also gave away financial aid from his annual allocation to the senior citizens, the disabled and single mothers.
On Sunday night, he attended the Sino Borih Sangon ( Beauty Priestesses) and Sama Pogan ( Brave Priests) contest organised by the Biro Warisan Kebudayaan dan Kesenian Stenggang at the Kampung Stenggang community hall.
Speaking at the function, which was attended by more than 1,000 people, Nogeh commended the organiser for holding such an event for the third consecutive year which showcased the cultural heritage of the Kampung Stenggang folks.
“I support this kind of event, which to me is a great way for the younger generation to gain better understanding of our traditional costume and culture.
“I want you to keep it up to draw more young people to know about their old traditional costumes as well as for the survival of the old culture and heritage,” he said.
Also present at the function was Kota Samarahan Municipal Council chairman Dato Peter Minos.
