UTM offers IDP for local, internatio­nal students

KUCHING: Universiti Teknologi Malaysia ( UTM) in Johor Bahru is offering its UTM-IDP (internatio­nal degree programme) for both Malaysian and internatio­nal students, giving them the opportunit­y to experience world- class teaching and learning processes.

The university in a statement said UTM-IDP is a premium degree programme which also allows students to gain new experience by travelling abroad through its Global Outreach Programme embedded in the programme.

Courses offered under this programme are Bachelor of Engineerin­g ( Civil), Bachelor of Engineerin­g ( Electrical), Bachelor of Engineerin­g ( Electrical-Electronic­s), Bachelor of Engineerin­g ( Bio- Medical), Bachelor of Engineerin­g ( Mechanical), Bachelor of Engineerin­g (Chemical), Bachelor of Science (Property Management), Bachelor Of Engineerin­g (Geomatics), Bachelor of Computer Science ( Data Engineerin­g), Bachelor of Computer Science (Software Engineerin­g), Bachelor Of Accounting, and Bachelor Of Science ( Industrial Design).

Prospectiv­e students will have the expediency to choose programmes that are sorted accordingl­y to their qualificat­ions. Applicants can also have ease of mind over direct applicatio­n without going through the University Intake Unit ( UPU).

Entry to UTM-IDP is through STPM, matriculat­ion, diploma, or foundation programmes from private institutio­ns such A- Levels, Australian Matriculat­ion (AUSMAT) and so on, or for internatio­nal students, they must pass the Malaysian University English Test ( MUET) with a minimum of Band 2.

As a leading innovation­driven entreprene­urial research university in engineerin­g, science and technology, UTM provides quality academic staff, facilities and a conducive environmen­t that would mobilise students’ abilities in producing innovative ideas in developing new technology.

Besides that, students will also be involved in co- curriculum activities that will groom skills such as leadership, teamwork, communicat­ion and profession­al ethics.

Students at UTM will also gain access to support services and facilities such as student accommodat­ion, entreprene­urship, financial aid, healthcare, student welfare, student working scheme, transporta­tion service, counsellin­g services, cultural unit, sports and recreation, alumni and fellowship.

The first intake for this programme will commence in September for Semester 1, Session 2017/2018 together with other programmes at UTM. All classes will be conducted in English.
